Millicent Rose

The best feeling is walking out of an airport terminal and into the sandalwood embedded air of Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, both places have so much history and culture. Egypt is a place where I desire to return and where my soul yearns to stay. A country where I don’t feel rushed, judgement doesn’t carry a weight, and kindness is as common as an interaction between friends. I want to feel free, lively, and weightless. I want to explore the world and leap into the unknown. I will take that over a boring and repetitive daily routine, I will know I have failed myself when my routine feels reliable and comfortable. My experiences in the country have been personal, so my paintings reflect specific personal moments.

Millicent Rose is from Denver, Colorado. She recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a B.F.A in Painting. She has a recent love of designing patterns for the applications of surface design. Designing with silk scarves, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and stationery in mind, all categories that have sparked her creative process. Millicent Rose works with ink, Flashe vinyl-paint, graphite, and oil to highlight the blossoming impact of genuine interactions. Interactions that remind her that the small and otherwise simple things matter, and staying present as opposed to passive is essential.
